FHA loan limits in San Diego county

FHA loan limits vary nationwide.  The county of the property can be a determining factor of  FHA loan limits. Median home prices in the county is what ultimately sets these limits.  Conventional loan limits were increased in 2018.  FHA loans limits followed shortly after.  California has some of the highest loan limits for FHA mortgages.  San Diego county is one of them.  In some cases 42% to 60% higher, again, the value of home prices is what sets these caps.

Loan limits for 1-4 unit single family residences in San Diego county are as follows:

$690,000 is the loan limit for one-unit properties with FHA financing

$883,300 is the loan limit for two-unit properties with FHA financing

$1,067,750 is the loan limit for three-unit properties when using an FHA loans

$1,326,950 is the loan limit for four-unit properties when acquiring a property or refinancing

Properties with higher median prices may make it difficult for a borrower that is planning to finance using an FHA mortgage.  Increasing the down payment amount is the easiest way of getting around this.
